Turn Veggies into Income this Winter Two Rivers Food Hub

Do you want to turn extra veggies into income this winter?   Two Rivers has shared climate controlled storage for free* for consignment vendors (up to a harvest pallet ‘bin’, plus reasonable pricing for larger quantities.
Our humidity controlled ‘root cellar’ is a high humidity low temperature storage room that came on-line in the summer of 2016.  It is a about 1000 sq feet of floor space with 10’ ceiling clearance.  We will be able to stack harvest bins 3 high to accommodate as many as 60 harvest bins worth of storage product.  We have brought plumbing into the cooler and will add regular spritzing to our maintenance cycles.  Our goal is to maintain an average humidity of 90-95% which should be ideal for most root crops.   Temperature and humidity gauges are clearly visible and regularly logged.   Temperature alarms are in place to insure rapid response to mechanical issues.  The Gallipeau Centre has a back-up generator in place that will help to insure continuous electrical supply in the case of power outages.
Good products for our shared humidity controlled cold storage include:
● Potatoes
● Turnips/Rutabagas
● Carrots
● Beets
● Sunchokes
● Daikon, Watermelon and Black Spanish radishes
● Other roots
● Cabbage

We also provide low temperature (4˚C) low humidity (0%) storage for:

● Onions
● Shallots

And higher humidity (75%), higher temp (15˚C) storage for:

● Winter squash
● Garlic

Other products, such as apples and sweet potatoes require separate storage conditions we are not yet able to accommodate.  We are happy to recommend local options for storing these crops if needed.
